A natural-disaster sandbox for iPhone and iPad
Natural Disaster Simulator is a sandbox: pick a region, pick a disaster, set how strong it is, and watch what it does. If something is broken, confusing, or missing, write to guerrero.emmanuel23@gmail.com and you will get a reply from the person who made it.
When reporting a problem, the things that help most are which region you were in, which disaster you started and at what strength, and what you expected to happen.
Tap a category on the right edge, pick a disaster from the column that opens, set its strength with the minus and plus buttons at the bottom, then tap the map. Floods, blizzards and dust storms cover the whole region and start wherever you tap.
Press and hold on the map, then drag. The storm follows your finger.
Some disasters need the right ground. A landslide or an avalanche needs a steep slope, and an avalanche needs snow: tap above the snow line, or start a blizzard first. A wildfire needs something to burn and will not catch in heavy rain. A tsunami needs open water. The message at the top of the screen says what is missing.
Drag with one finger to look around, pinch to zoom, and drag with two fingers to move across the map. The eye button hides the interface for a clean view; tap the faint eye again to bring it back. The sun button changes the time of day.
Buildings destroyed out of the total, people displaced from their homes, and the estimated cost of the damage. The clipboard button opens the full report. The figures are estimates made by the simulation, not predictions.
The circular-arrow button at the bottom left restores the current region. The map button above it picks a different one.
Open Settings (the gear at the bottom right) and lower Graphics to Medium or Low. The change applies the next time a region is loaded.
Settings has a Reduce Flashing switch that damps lightning and blast flashes, and a separate switch for camera shake.
Natural Disaster Simulator is a simulation of invented places. It does not forecast, track or warn of real events. For warnings where you live, use your national weather and geological services.
Natural Disaster Simulator has no account, no ads, no purchases and no network code. Nothing you do in it leaves your device. The full policy is at privacy-policy.html.
